Behind the Curtain Is an exclusive Artist Exposition and Trade Show. If you are a visual artist or a performing artist in any way shape or form than you are vendor material here! We want to encourage artists to expand and grow surrounded by like-minded individuals reaching the same ultimate goal. Behind The Curtain is an independently owned and operated operation that funds itself through ticket sales, no glitz and glamour here, just a lot of hard work, determination and a lot of helping hands..

This event was started by an artist just looking for a way to expand their own creative business, it has since grown into an event that has higher goals and future outlooks than ever imagined.

What Is Behind The Curtain?

What Is Behind The Curtains Goal?

World Domination? ..... Seriously though, We are looking to the future with each show. We want more artists and more variety, we want to provide a reliable and continuous platform where artists know they are welcome and can thrive as well as having the art loving public knows that this is THE establishment to find what they are looking for, be it service or product. The goal is continous growth for everyone involved..

Do Artists have to pay to be involved?

As much as we would love to say no, we can't. Yes, there is a fee for all artists involved. However we have tried to make it as accomodating and easily affordable as possible. We know first hand how difficult it is to come up with funds for these events. This is why we are working towards being the best platform we possibly can to facilitate a growing artists needs. You can find our registration form under the Artists Forms tab on our webpage that will provide you with cost information and opportunities to raise your funds by having ticket sales sponsored under your name!

I am an Artist but i am not from Calgary. Can I still participate?

YES PLEASE! We know that Calgary is a city that is filled with hidden gems and we want to shine a spotlight on them. However in every part of this world there are hidden gems and we welcome you all to our event! Regardless of your residence, If you are an artist wanting to expand your connections and visibility, please consider us as the event for you!

If I become a vendor in your event, how much of my profit do you take?

Are you ready for this one? It's a large amount.......ZERO! Behind the Curtain does not take commissions off of your profits. That would completely defeat the purpose of what we are trying to accomplish. Aside from your vendor fee's and any extras you decide you want from options we offer at a specific price, we take nothing from you. Any and all profits you make from products you sell or services you book are 100% yours.

Can I market myself how I want?

Yes! It is highly encouraged! As an artist, you have your own creative outlet and ideas on how you should brand yourself or what you should be offering. If you are new to this and ask for a few ideas we would be happy to throw some your way, However, this is your show! Promote it, market yourself, offer any of your services/products in whatever package form or individual sales you would like. Just like anything else, you are only as successful with your business as the amount of work you put into it.

Do you take a cut from the profits made on your silent auction table?

Anything that is advertised for charity in our event is 100% Charity. Behind the curtain does not profit off of funds meant to go towards making a difference.

What if I'm a performing artist and want to be involved but don't need a booth?

We encourage everyone to get a booth as people coming in may like to talk to you , gather information or simply look at images from your services (dancer/ singing  etc) However we are offering new artist packages specifically for those of you who may like to perform on stage but do not have any need for a vendor booth. You can find more information in the Artist Forms tab where you will find the different registration forms offered specifically for spotlight only.

I still can't afford any of the vendor prices, but I really want to be a vendor. Can I share a table?

YES! You can share a table and split the cost with whoever you'd like. The only rule about this is the person you are sharing with MUST be an artist as well in some form, performing or visual. We encourage it! The more the merrier! However, Remember our option we offer about raising your vendor fee through pre-purchased ticket sales. Contact us for more information or cruise on over to our registrations forms to get more info!

What do you consider an artist?

Any and All Art forms are accepted!! To name a few: Painters, Photographers, Sculptors, Glass Blowers, Metal Art, Jewelry, Fashion Design, Tattoo Artists, Dancers, Singers, Ariels, Hoopers, Sketchers, Candle Makers, Fragrance Makers, Mask Makers, Glass Designers, Clay Makers, Ceramics, Hair Stylist, Makeup Artists, Accessorie Designers, Leather workers, Comedians.........Should I keep going?

If you make something or perform something... With your own hands , voice or body that puts people in awe, inspires, creates a purchasing movement or leaves people with a smile in any way shape or form... then you are an artist and you are invited.

If I become a vendor in your show am i guarenteed to make a profit?

If you have ever done any kind of trade shows, then you know that NOTHING is a guarentee. Trade shows are a platform not a silver plater. It gives you a space to be seen, it does not fill your pockets for you. However we can tell you that we guarentee we will work hard and do everything we can to give you the opportunity to make money, but what we do is just not enough! You have to find inventive ways to showcase your items and services to the people walking by AND you have to present yourself properly, be cheerful and present when they approach. A first impression could mean a lasting impression and provide immediate or future clients or it could mean your business card just went into the trash when your potential clients go home.

Can I volunteer?

You most certainly can! As we grow and gain more momentum we always are in need of extra hands to help out. If you would like to volunteer because you just want to be involved somehow great! however if you would like to have this experience to place on your resume along with a reccomendation we would be happy to help you out with that in return!

Will there be media there?

Yes there will be. We can't guarentee who exactly will be there but please be aware there is video taken of the event as well as photography. So there is a very good chance there will be video or images taken of you whether you are aware it's happening or not. When signing up to become a vendor, or taking on a roll as a team member of a vendor as well as walking in as a guest at the event you accept and understand this will be happening. We use these images to showcase what goes on at our events, advertising and information purposes.
